The organizers of D.C. Bike Party say a crash last week is not representative of their organization.

D.C. Bike Party, a monthly event, gathers bicyclists for a group ride to a local bar for music and socializing.

However, a video posted on YouTube shows the club's June 12 event ending early for one bicyclist near Logan Circle. The video shows the cyclist, shown in the video wearing a the white T-shirt, riding through red lights and then being struck by a taxicab at 11th and P streets NW.

The cab driver remained on the scene, and the cyclist wasn't seriously injured.

"Bicylists need to follow the rules like cars do. So of it's a a red light, you should stop. I mean, I don't wish that [crash] on anyone, but he should have stopped," said one woman after seeing the video.

Lia Seremetis, founder of D.C. Bike Party, said safety is always stressed before each event.

"It's just really not representative of everything we reiterate over and over and over," Seremetis told News4. "Knowing there are going to be several hundreds of people coming out to these rides... we reiterate, 'Be safe; stay in the right lane; don't ride ahead of [ride] marshals.'"
