Monday's inauguration festivities will be cold, with temperatures that are expected to reach the low 40s, said Storm Team4 Meteorologist Tom Kierein.
It's possible that revelers out for the inaugural balls tonight could see snow flurries, Kierein reported. Those flurries could leave a brief dusting in some areas.
But given that, the weather won't be "unreasonably cold," Kierein said. Certainly not like Reagan's second inaugural in 1985, when the morning low was 4 degrees below zero and the high all day reached only 17 degrees. The ceremonies were moved inside.
It snowed about eight inches at John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1961 - and Army flame throwers were used to clear it from Pennsylvania Avenue.
